Postcard Competition
Our Christmas Postcard Competition 2024 is now open for entries.
The competition affords those that take part an opportunity to create your own Christmas Card design with up to 20 entries selected for exhibition and 10 runners up who will all have their designs printed and available to buy, exclusively at the NYAS Shop.
An overall winner will be invited to work on future projects with NYAS.

The Nightmare Before Christmas
You've all seen those cards of imagined places where everyone looks happy. To be alive merits only one response and that is joy. Here, pastel rules and everything drips with light. There is glitter and smiles. There is ecstacy and delight. If this category appeals to you, then make it even merrier than ever.
Eating at Christmas is social. We eat while wearing paper hats. We eat while pulling crackers. We eat while telling jokes smacking our lips. Then we eat some more. At Christmas there's always room for more. Fans of this category should make their postcards feastly.

How Much?
The price to enter is £12 which includes VAT. Subsequent entries purchased at the same time are £5 each.
The entry fee covers the cost of the blank postcard(s) which will be posted to you along with a stamped addressed envelope to return your entry(s).
Some of the money will go toward the exhibition we'll mount, provide an opening for and invigilate; and the rest goes toward the upkeep of our school and shop. With the exception of a recent bit of funding to help us put on free classes for Scarborough Streets, we are entirely unfunded and rather than ask for donations and handouts we do competitions like this.
Christmas Postcard Competition Timeline
To enter our Christmas Postcard Competition, click the entry button below and complete the order form, including the number of postcards you wish to enter.
You need to enter by 23:59 on 15th September 2024.
Blank Postcard(s) will be sent to participants on 17th September 2024.
Please return your completed postcard(s) using the envelope provided by 27th October 2024.
Finalists will be announced on Friday 1st November 2024.
Join us for the Exhibition Opening on Friday 15th November 2024, where the finalist entries will be framed and available for purchase as Christmas cards exclusively at the NYAS Shop.
The winning postcard will be announced following a public vote on Tuesday 24th December 2024.
With your postcard, either on the back or on a separate piece of paper, you MUST include (in clear writing or type) your name, title of work and materials used.
Winning entries will be framed where appropriate by NYAS in a standard uniform frame to be exhibited and sold in the NYAS shop. The artist must stipulate whether the work is for sale or not. All framed postcards will go on sale for £85. The artist will receive £50 in the event of a sale.

You must enter below to take part. Entries submitted by email or without an official order number will not be accepted.

NYAS will send participants a postcard(s) to be used to enter the competition. We will accept entries using other sorts of paper, e.g. watercolour paper. Please ensure any substitute paper is 6 x 4 inches.

There is no age restrictions for this competition.

Please ensure all elements are firmly secure before sending or dropping off your work. Any parts that are missing or coming away from the work will result in disqualification.

Works can be signed. Works without signatures are acceptable.

Do not bend your work.

Work must not be framed.

Unsuccessful entries can be returned. Please include an appropriate stamped addressed envelope with your entry.

NYAS is not liable for any lost or damaged postcards.
